When beheading isn’t the end…..

Yesterday the BCHC welcomed Professor Aziz Aboobaker to Aberystwyth University to speak with us about his work. Aziz is particularly interested in understanding how some animals are able to regenerate and the stem cells that underpin this process. His work uses the planarian flatworm Schmidtea mediterranea as a model system to investigate the process of regeneration and how the key stem cell behaviours underpinning this process, like proliferation and migration, are controlled.

Aziz presented a fascinating seminar on some of the most recent research being conducted in his laboratory. He also met with several BCHC members about potential areas of collaborations.

Thanks so much for travelling from Oxford to visit us Aziz!
