On Thursday, February 26, 2026, several members of the Barrett Centre for Helminth Control attended the annual St David’s Award ceremony in Cardiff to join in celebrating the national awards of Wales.
The BCHC was shortlisted as a finalist in the Innovation, Science and Technology category and was incredibly proud to be considered for the prize alongside Joanne Davies (Swansea University) and Elin Haf Davies (Aparito).
While the BCHC did not take home the prize (a very deserving Joanne did!), we are incredibly humbled to have our work recognised in this manner. We will continue to work diligently on parasitic worms that cause some of the world’s biggest issues in human and animal health as well as in food security.
We are honoured to have been selected by the St Davids Advisory Panel and Welsh Government for the 2026 awards and look forward to using this recognition as a catapult for continued success in combating parasitic diseases caused by flatworms.
