In February, members of the BCHC travelled to Cardiff to attend the Life Sciences Research Network Wales (LSRNW) Congress 2023 held in St David’s Hotel, Cardiff. This network is led by Cardiff University and unites HEIs from across Wales with the aim of developing new precision therapeutics and diagnostics in areas of unmet medical and veterinary need.
Over the two days of networking and discussion, delegates heard presentations detailing the successes of the network from Bangor, Cardiff and Swansea Universities, as well of course as Aberystwyth University. As a members of the LSRNW management board, Prof Karl Hoffmann (AU) and Prof Cathy Thornton (Swansea University) opened the meeting. During the two-day event Jo Forde-Thomas gave a presentation titled ‘High-throughput screening strategies to identify new anthelmintic compounds’ and Kristen Lees presented her poster entitled ‘Anthelmintic drug discovery: the hunt for new drugs against Schistosoma mansoni’
