This March members of the BCHC took part in British Science week hosted by Aberystwyth University. An annual UK wide celebration of science, technology, engineering and Maths, this year’s theme was Connections.
Over the 3-day event pupils from local primary and secondary schools visited the Penglais campus for the opportunity to engage with a wide variety of science-based stalls completing activities and quizzes.
Many different areas of science at the University were highlighted, including parasitology with students and staff engaging with the visiting pupils. Pupils were given the chance to get hands-on experience running an anthelmintic drug discovery experiment, seeing real parasites and learnt about the Schistosome lifecycle with our cuddly parasites!
The event was great success and well done to everyone involved!
