Aberystwyth University recently welcomed hundreds of school children from the local area to celebrate British Science Week. This annual event is a celebration of science, technology, engineering and Maths (STEM), this year’s theme was Time.
Several university departments were involved including BCHC members, running stands related to STEM subjects. The interactive activities encouraged the pupils to get involved.
This year the ‘World of Parasites’ stand comprised of two elements – ‘Inside the Host’ where pupils had the chance to become a parasite and invade the host. The ‘Parasite Lab’ where pupils became scientists to see live parasites hatching under the microscope.
The huge range of stands and activities were thoroughly enjoyed by all involved and it was another successful week!

This brightly coloured stand looks an amazing way to gain the interest of so many children and engage them in a very interactive way with the topic.
